Having learned of the death of Father Marie-Dominique Philippe, Cardinal Stanislaw Dziwisz, Archbishop of Cracow and former secretary of John-Paul II, sent a letter to father Jean-Pierre-Marie, Prior general of the Brothers of St. John.

Cracow, August 28, 2006

Dear Father Jean-Pierre-Marie,

Profoundly touched at the news of Father Marie-Dominique Philippe’ death, Founder of your Congregation of St. John, I would like to express my sincere and profound condolences. The deep mourning which strikes the Congregation arouses in my soul feelings of sincere grief in the dear and pious remembrance of him who loved so much the Holy Father John-Paul II and who was a faithful servant of the Church. I ask the Lord for the eternal reward of his soul, and to his religious Family I send wishes of fidelity and apostolic fervour, according to the charism of its Founder. May the Virgin Mary console you!

I greet you and wish you God’s blessing for the entire Community

Stanislas Cardinal Dziwisz
