June 27, 2009: in Vézelay (France) thirteen brothers were ordained to the diaconate and thirteen brothers to the priesthood by Most Rev. Jean-Louis Bruguès, Secretary of the Congregation for Catholic Education.

On Pentecost week-end (May 30-June 1, 2009) in Paray le Monial (France), twelve Brothers received the habit of the Community, seven Brothers and five Apostolic Sisters pronounced their temporary vows, twelve Brothers pronounced their final vows. See the pictures.

March 21, 2009: the Apostolic Sisters of St. John, gathered in General Chapter in Semur en Brionnais (France) have elected Sr. Anne-Cécile as their new superior general.

March 5, 2009: foundation of the Brothers of St. John in Bologna (Italy).

November 1, 2008: foundation of the Brothers of St. John in Oviedo (Spain).

October 1, 2008: foundation of the Brothers of St. John in Canning Town, London (diocese of Brentwood, GB).

August 24, 2008: a fire heavily damaged the chapel and the kitchen of the Brothers in the novitiate priory of Saint Jodard (France). The Brothers give thanks to Divine Providence that the entire priory was not destroyed and that all Brothers are safe. Pictures of the damages can be seen on a special page of the French version.

June 21, 2008: in Ars (France) twenty brothers were ordained to the diaconate and seven brothers to the priesthood by His Eminence Cardinal Paul Poupard, former President of the Pontifical Counsel for Culture.

August 25, 2007: three brothers were ordained to the priesthood in Princeville (Illinois).

July 25, 2007: foundation of the Apostolic Sisters in East Orange (New Jersey) in the archdiocese of Newark (USA).

 

On Monday 23rd April 2007, under the chairmanship of Bishop Benoît Rivière, Bishop of Autun (France), the General Chapter of the Brothers of St John, comprising approximately fifty delegates, have re-elected Father Jean-Pierre-Marie as Prior General for a term of office of three years.

 

On Friday December 8, 2006, took place in Rome the opening of the priory of the Brothers of Saint John and the reopening after 14 years of repair works of Saint-Nicolas of the Lorrains church in the presence of Cardinal Paul Poupard, president of the Pontifical Council for Culture and of the Pontifical Council for interreligious dialogue. In a message signed by Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, secretary of state, Pope Benedict XVI "is delighted that this beautiful church is to be once more a place of worship, and he greets the Brothers of the Community of St. John who have been entrusted with the pastoral care of this church – a church situated at the heart of the historical center of Rome and visited by numerous pilgrims and tourists."

 

 

Father Marie-Dominique Philippe, o.p., founder of the Community of Saint John, peacefully returned to God on Saturday August 26, 2006, at 4 am at the priory of Saint Jodard (France). He was taken care of there since July 20, 2006, after a stroke. See the special information page.


August 15, 2006: foundation of the Brothers of Saint John in Orange, archdiocese of Newark (New Jersey, USA).

July 1, 2006: in Ars (France) eight brothers were ordained to the diaconate and forteen brothers to the priesthood by His Eminence cardinal Franc Rodé, prefect of the Congregation for Religious Institutes. June 30, 2006: in joy and thanksgiving the Community celebrated the 70th aniversary of the ordination to the priesthood of Father Marie-Dominique Philippe. Read the message sent by Pope Benedict XVI.

On Pentecost week-end (June 3-5, 2006) in Paray le Monial (France), twelve Brothers received the habit of the Community, ten Brothers pronounced their temporary vows, twenty two Brothers and four Apostolic Sisters pronounced their final vows.

The VIIIth Agapé Music and Sacred Art Festival took place from May 24 to May 28, 2006 at St. Francis de Sales parish with the Brothers of St. John in Geneva (Switzerland).

February 12-16, 2006: the Community in pilgrimage in Rome with 1,500 Brothers, Sisters, Oblates and friends for its 30th aniversary of its foundation. See the article and the pictures (in French).

December 8, 2005: in joy and thanksgiving the Community celebrated the 30th aniversary of its foundation.

The IInd Oblates Forum took place in Paray le Monial (France) on October 22-23, 2005 with the participation of hundreds of Secular Oblates as well as Brothers and Sisters of St. John.

September 2005: foundation of the Brothers of St. John in Lorient (diocese of Vannes, France).

August 2005: foundation of the Apostolic Sisters of St. John in Pierrefonds (diocese of Beauvais, France).

On June 25, 2005 in Vézelay (France), five Brothers were ordained to the diaconate and three Brothers to the prieshood by Most Rev. Kpodzro, archbishop of Lomé (Togo).

On Pentecost week-end (May 14-15, 2005) in Ars (village of St. John Vianney in France), fifteen Brothers received the habit of the Community, nine Brothers pronounced their temporary vows and eleven Brothers pronounced their final vows. See the pictures.

An international symposium of philosophy took place in Saint Jodard (France) from January 28 to January 29, 2005. The symposium, whose topic was Whitehead and the experience of God, gathered professors of Ecole Saint Jean (Saint Jodard) and from the universities of Lille (France), Leuven, Liège (Belgium), Maynooth (Ireland), Vienna (Austria) and Claremont (California).

Tsunami of December 26, 2004: the priory of the Brothers of Saint John in Pondicherry (South Eastern coast of India) was not touched by the tsunami, but the Brothers participate in the rescue. Read their testimony.
